Today marks an important milestone as we launch Third Opinion, a confidential, free of charge consultation service designed for professionals working at the frontier of artificial intelligence. Our mission is simple but vital: to help you evaluate concerns about AI development and deployment, safely and anonymously.
Why Third Opinion?
Over the past year, we've spoken with more than 50 individuals across the AI landscape.
One theme emerged consistently: when confronted with potentially concerning situations, professionals often lack a safe way to clarify whether their concerns are well-founded by consulting with outside expert guidance. This gap not only creates personal distress, but also makes it harder for these professionals to effectively address their concerns.
Helping AI developers make better, more informed decisions could benefit all stakeholders in the AI ecosystem.
How It Works
Starting today, AI professionals can submit questions securely via our Tor-based tool - without revealing their identity, organisation, or confidential information. Our role is to facilitate confidential exchanges between you and carefully selected independent experts who can provide informed, objective perspectives on your situations.
As a guiding principle, we focus on questions that are posed in reference to an underlying concern relating to the development or deployment of AI that might be adverse to the public interest, and for which you cannot readily receive external help. These questions should be framed in a way that the opinions you receive allow you to identify whether a threshold has been crossed. Questions can be of technical, governance, or other nature - we outline a few potential areas here.
Whatever your concern, we're here to help you understand whether what you're witnessing crosses into truly worrying territory – all while maintaining your anonymity and protecting confidential information.
Our Commitment to You
You maintain complete control over the process. We never act on any exchanges without your explicit direction, and you can halt the process at any time, with all exchange data deleted upon request. Your trust is paramount to us.
